I THINK I'M NOCTURNAL

"I Think I'm Nocturnal" is a collection of urban expressionist artworks artist.

I am fascinated by the energy and vibrancy of the contemporary urban landscape.

Drawing from my background as a designer of nightclubs and bars, I attempt to capture the memories and experiences of the city at night, when the streets come alive with an alluring pull. In this unique city landscape, the darker sides of human life are illuminated by the captivating glow of neon lights and vibrant, colourful doorways.

A loose and raw technique employs gradients and blurred focus to evoke the gritty texture and essence of the city surfaces and "hazy recollections" of a "night on the town", immersing viewers in an almost tactile experience.

At times, fingers and palms mix the paint directly on the canvas, further deepening the connection between myself and the work.

These artworks delve into the duality of the self, navigating the delicate tension between conformity and pleasure and the interplay between desire and logic. The paintings offer glimpses into our internal and external struggles, inviting viewers to contemplate the moments of doubt and self-reflection that shape our decisions.

Despite the inherent darkness that can reside within the human mind, I also try to capture the inherent hope and different perspectives that can be found within every situation.

His artworks evoke the raw and unpredictable energy of the contemporary city, offering viewers a glimpse into the diverse facets of the human experience shaped by the nightlife we choose to embrace.

Each painting invites us to contemplate the internal and external struggles that define our existence while simultaneously instilling a sense of hope and possibility in the light that shines from the darkest doorways.
